1. Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the ServiceVault Android application and its privacy-policy website handle information. It applies to ServiceVault as published by BlueHollow Software. It does not replace the privacy terms of Google Play, Android, your device manufacturer, a storage provider, or another app you choose to use.
2. Information you can store in ServiceVault
ServiceVault lets you enter and manage information about vehicles and equipment. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:
- Asset names, types, years, makes, models, and optional identifiers such as a VIN, serial number, unit number, or license-related reference.
- Maintenance dates, service descriptions, mileage or hour readings, costs, currencies, notes, and service history.
- Upcoming-service targets, recurring intervals, reminder status, and usage readings.
- Documents you choose to import, such as receipts, invoices, photographs, warranty records, or registration records, together with file names and descriptive notes.
- Local preferences and operational information, such as onboarding status, reminder settings, notification-delivery state, review-request timing, and the date and status of your latest successful backup.
- A locally cached indication that Google Play has verified your ServiceVault Pro entitlement. The app does not store your payment-card details.
This information is stored in the app's private storage on your device. BlueHollow Software does not have access to it.
3. Collection, use, and sharing by the app
ServiceVault does not require an account or sign-in. The current version has no advertising, analytics, tracking technology, developer-operated cloud service, or third-party software development kit that transmits your ServiceVault records to BlueHollow Software.
The app processes your information locally to display records, calculate service status, provide optional reminders, search and filter records, create reports, and perform backup and restore operations. BlueHollow Software does not sell, rent, or share the information stored in ServiceVault because the developer does not receive that information from the app.
4. Imported documents, backups, reports, and other apps
Imported documents
When you import a supported document, Android's system file picker lets you select it. ServiceVault copies the selected file into private app storage. The app does not scan unrelated files or request broad access to your device storage.
Opening documents
If you choose to open an imported document, ServiceVault may give the compatible viewer app you select temporary, read-only access to that file. The viewer app is separate from ServiceVault and handles information under its own privacy policy.
Backups and reports
When you create an encrypted backup or export a CSV maintenance report, Android's system file picker lets you choose the destination. That destination may be local storage or a storage provider you have installed or connected. The provider may process the exported file under its own terms.
Portable backups are encrypted and authenticated with the password you choose. ServiceVault and BlueHollow Software cannot recover a forgotten backup password. CSV reports are not encrypted by ServiceVault. You control any later copying, sharing, or deletion of exported files.
Android system backup
ServiceVault disables Android cloud backup and excludes its app data from Android device-transfer backup rules. ServiceVault's supported recovery method is the explicit encrypted backup file you create and safeguard.
5. Optional service notifications
If you enable service reminders and, where required, grant notification permission, ServiceVault performs device-local checks and may display a notification when service becomes due soon or overdue. Reminder processing does not send your asset or maintenance information to BlueHollow Software. You can disable reminders in ServiceVault or manage notification permission in Android settings.
6. Google Play Billing and ServiceVault Pro
If you choose to buy or restore ServiceVault Pro, the app uses Google Play Billing to request product information and confirm whether the Google account used by Google Play owns the non-consumable upgrade. Google processes the purchase, payment method, receipt, and related transaction information under Google's terms and privacy policy. The Google Play Billing library may also send Google technical diagnostic information about billing API use, success or failure, and service-connection problems. BlueHollow Software does not operate a payment server and does not receive your full payment-card details.
ServiceVault locally caches a verified Pro entitlement so the purchased features continue to work when Google Play is temporarily unreachable. The cache may include entitlement status and purchase-verification state, but it does not include your asset or maintenance records. ServiceVault never sends asset names, identifiers, maintenance history, documents, backups, or reports with a billing request.
7. Google Play in-app reviews
After you have used ServiceVault long enough and completed a maintenance-related action, the app may ask Google Play to offer its standard review interface. Google Play decides whether the interface appears. ServiceVault stores only device-local timing and app-version information to avoid asking too often; that information is not included in ServiceVault backups.
If you choose to submit a rating or written review, Google processes that information under Google's terms and privacy policy. Google may publish the review on Google Play and make it available to BlueHollow Software through Play Console. ServiceVault does not attach asset names, identifiers, maintenance history, documents, backups, reports, or other ServiceVault records to the request, and the app does not learn whether you submitted a review. Google states that review data is encrypted, and you can manage or delete a submitted review through your Google Play or Google Account.
8. Support communications
If you contact BlueHollow Software by email, the developer receives the information you voluntarily include, such as your email address, message, and attachments. Do not send backup passwords or sensitive documents unless they are necessary for your request and you understand the risk.
Support correspondence is used to respond to you, diagnose reported problems, maintain appropriate business records, and protect the service from misuse. It is not sold or used for advertising. Email providers may process these communications under their own privacy terms. Correspondence is retained only as reasonably needed for those purposes or to meet legal obligations.
9. Privacy-policy website
This policy page contains no advertising, analytics code, tracking scripts, forms, or externally loaded fonts. It is hosted through GitHub Pages. GitHub states that it logs and stores a visitor's IP address for security purposes when a GitHub Pages site is visited. GitHub may also process technical usage information according to the GitHub Privacy Statement.
10. Data retention and deletion
Information in ServiceVault remains on your device until you edit or delete it, replace current data through a restore, clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app. Archiving an asset does not delete it or its related records. Some related documents or records may need to be removed before an asset or record can be deleted so that deletion is deliberate and understandable.
Exported backups and CSV reports are outside ServiceVault's private storage and are not removed when app data is cleared or the app is uninstalled. You must delete those copies from every location where you saved or shared them. BlueHollow Software cannot remotely view or delete data that exists only on your device or in your chosen storage locations.
You may ask BlueHollow Software to delete support correspondence the developer controls by using the contact address below, subject to records that must be retained for security, legal, or legitimate business purposes. GitHub controls retention of information it processes while hosting this page.
11. Security
ServiceVault uses Android private app storage for its working data. Portable backups use password-based encryption and authentication. The app limits imported file types and sizes and grants document viewers read-only access only when you request it.
No device, storage system, or encryption method can guarantee absolute security. Protect your device with appropriate screen security, use a strong and unique backup password, keep exported files in trusted locations, and install updates from trusted sources.
12. Children's privacy
ServiceVault is a general vehicle and equipment maintenance utility intended for a general adult audience. It is not directed to children under 13, and BlueHollow Software does not knowingly collect children's personal information through the app. If you believe a child has sent personal information through a support message, contact BlueHollow Software so the message can be reviewed and deleted when appropriate.
13. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when ServiceVault's features, data practices, legal obligations, or service providers change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate channel, such as an updated in-app or Google Play disclosure.
